Drop-arm awnings

With the drop-arm awning the drop out of the awning is pulled down by two lateral drop arms. Therefore, it simultaneously moves downwards and outwards so that with the angle of the drop arms the tilt of the awning can be changed. Since a completely extended drop-arm awning runs almost vertically, it is more suitable for the shadowing of vertical spaces, namely windows, and less for transit traffic.

For retraction the roller pulls the awning cloth upwards and therefore also the drop out as well as the drop arms so that with larger dimensions a quite big exertion of force is needed. For that reason drop-arm awnings can be equipped with an electro motor, which enables a much more comfortable handling also in top floors of a high rise building.

With the help of an additional cross member between the lateral drop arm mountings you can first extend the awning cloth in the upper part of the window downwards − similar to a roller blind − and then slantwise outwards through the opening of the drop arms. Like that you can − in case of setting sun − also create sufficient light and sun protection and at the same time keep the view to the outside. This kind of awning is also called markisolette and it is popular as an external sun protection for large glass facades; consequently also the facade becomes more interesting and diversified.
